K’Rattanai Songsangchan (Port United F.C. football player) shared his recovery experience caused in practice

K’Rattanai: I am the goal keeper of Port United F.C. During practice, I drove out to block the ball and a player happened to kick the ball into my face. My cheekbone was fractured and my eyes were swollen so I couldn’t properly open my eyes. Moreover, I have an open wound that needs to be sticthed on my face. My vision couldn’t function properly. The doctor diagnosed me with zygoma (fractured cheekbone) and adviced me to undergoes titanium surgery since it would be beneficial long term. The doctor informed me that the surgery area is 1 cm away from my optic nerves. My instant concerned was that I would completely lose my vision abilities or that it won’t function the same. However, my biggest concern lies in not being able to continue my soccer career. Right after the surgery, I experienced a doubled vision and slight headache. After the resting period, I was able to resume my practice routine with more awareness. The stitches done by doctor were seamless and left no scar, which was quite impressive. As I am reflecting on this whole experience, I feel like eyesight was such a vital part of our body and no one should risk losing it. However, in worst case and accidents do happen, please stay calm and get treated with specialist. I was fotunate enoguh to be treated in VibhaVadi Hospital. Every medical staff demonstrated professionality and I was greatful to everyone throughout the whole treatment process. I would like to express my special thanks to these three medical staffs, who played essential roles in the treatemnet processes. Firstly, thank you Dr. Naratip Songthong,M.D., who was in charged of the surgery. His uture was impeccable. Secondly, Dr. Ravee Jongsaliswang, an eye specialist, for taken such a well care of me. Lastly, Dr. Ponghathai Sukhanusasna from ENT department for overseeing my nasal cavity. I also would like to express my gratitude to nurses who were in Vibhavadi Hospital. They left such monumental expression for me, I felt safe and secure.
