Nurse Assists in Seizure Incident on Airplane

While Ms. Pannita Rinnara, a professional nurse from the Cardiology Department, was returning from Khon Kaen on Air Asia flight FD3257, a call for medical assistance was announced shortly after takeoff. The patient was a 3-4 year old boy having a seizure due to a high fever. Three doctors, herself and another crew member rushed to help. One doctor sat next to the patient and his mother to facilitate the patient's breathing. Ms. Pannita and her colleague assisted by providing oxygen, positioning the patient during the seizure, and preparing medical equipment with the aircraft crew. After approximately 5 minutes, the patient's seizures stopped, and he was safely transported to Don Mueang Airport, where an ambulance from the flight was ready to transport him to the hospital.
