Alzheimer's Disease

Alzheimer's Disease

Alzheimer's disease is a common condition found in older adults aged 60 and above. It is a warning sign of dementia, often presenting with symptoms such as forgetting glasses, not remembering whether the house door was locked or not, forgetting familiar names, and mild memory loss. About 30% of these individuals will develop dementia.

Causes of forgetfulness

  • Short attention span, often found in those who multitask, leading to a "short-term memory loss" phenomenon.
  • Excessive anxiety causing sleeplessness, and when this occurs frequently, the brain becomes fatigued, leading to forgetfulness.
  • Depression due to loss of loved ones, unemployment, debt, chronic illness, brain injury, or increasing age.
