Tummy Tuck Surgery

Tummy Tuck Surgery

Abdominal Lipectomy and Abdominoplasty, commonly known as Tummy Tuck Surgery, is a surgical procedure aimed at removing excess fat, redundant skin, and correcting a sagging abdominal wall that often occurs after pregnancy or significant weight loss.

This surgical procedure results in a smoother and firmer appearance of the abdomen, while also allowing for the elimination of stretch marks in areas below the navel. However, it is important to note that this surgery is not suitable for individuals who are severely overweight and should only be considered after achieving a stable weight.

The Surgery:

The procedure is performed in a hospital setting under general anesthesia. The incision for the surgery is located above the pubic area and extends laterally to both hips. The incision is strategically placed within the boundaries of underwear or bikini bottoms to conceal it. The surgery typically takes about three hours, and if there is excessive loose skin and fat, repositioning of the navel may be necessary. After the surgery, drains will be placed to remove blood and yellowish fluid, which will be left in for approximately one week to prevent fluid accumulation beneath the incision.

Recovery:

Following the surgery, it may be necessary to lie down or remain in a slightly bent position due to the tightness around the incision, which gradually improves within seven to ten days. The sensation in the abdominal area also improves gradually over a period of approximately three to six months. It is advised to avoid heavy lifting, strenuous physical activity, or vigorous exercise for about six weeks after the surgery.

Possible Complications:

Most complications associated with this surgery are minor and can be addressed through wound care or minor corrective procedures.

•              Hematoma or seroma formation (blood or fluid accumulation)

•              Infection at the surgical site

•              Wound separation

•              Partial skin necrosis

•              Irregular scarring
