Acupuncture is a form of medical treatment based on traditional Chinese medicine. It is believed to have three main therapeutic effects:
1. Correcting obstructions in the flow of Qi, or vital energy, through the meridians of the body.
2. Balancing the functions of various organs in the body.
3. Stimulating the immune system to eliminate harmful factors from the body.
4. Suppressing pain.
5. Alleviating tension in the muscles.
Duration of acupuncture treatment:
Doctors will use small needles, ranging in size from 0.18-0.30 mm, to puncture various points on the body and stimulate them by rotating the needle manually or by using a low voltage electrical device. The procedure takes about 30 minutes, after which the needles are removed.
