Vibhavadi Hospital launches Gamma Knife treatment center

Vibhavadi Hospital has signed a collaboration agreement with Healthcare Therapeutics Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of CMC Biotech Group, to establish the Siam Gamma Knife Therapy Center, the first and only neurosurgical radiosurgery center in Thailand utilizing the Leksell Gamma Knife technology. This world-class innovation offers advanced treatment for brain and neurological disorders without the need for open surgery.

Revolutionizing Brain Treatment with Leksell Gamma Knife Technology

Leksell Gamma Knife is globally recognized as the Gold Standard for brain treatment, utilizing highly precise cobalt radiation focused at the millimeter level. This allows for effective removal of tumors or neurological abnormalities while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue, eliminating the need for open surgery. Currently, there are over 358 Leksell Gamma Knife units installed in 60 countries worldwide, treating more than one million patients.

Advancing Brain Disease Treatment in Thailand

Mr. Pichit Wiriyamettakul, Managing Director of Vibhavadi Hospital, stated, “This center marks another significant milestone for Vibhavadi Hospital in expanding treatment options for complex diseases, particularly brain and cancer conditions. We are committed to providing patients in Thailand with state-of-the-art and highly safe medical innovations, eliminating the need for overseas treatment.”

The Siam Gamma Knife Therapy Center provides treatment for a wide range of brain and neurological disorders, including:

  • Brain tumors such as Meningioma, Vestibular Schwannomas, and Pituitary Adenomas

  • Brain cancer, including metastases from other parts of the body

  • Cerebrovascular abnormalities such as Arteriovenous Malformations (AVMs)

  • Trigeminal Neuralgia (chronic facial pain disorder)

  • Epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease

A Regional Hub for Brain Treatment

The launch of the Siam Gamma Knife Therapy Center represents a significant advancement in brain disease treatment standards in Thailand, reducing the need to refer patients abroad. It also reinforces the capabilities of Thai medical professionals and the strength of Thailand’s healthcare system in effectively meeting patient needs.
