Reducing salt intake is an effective way to lower blood pressure. Therefore, it is recommended to limit the amount of salty foods you eat, and to consume no more than 3/4 teaspoon of salt

Comparative amount of salt

1/4 teaspoon of salt equals 500 milligrams of sodium.

1/2 teaspoon of salt equals 1000 milligrams of sodium.

3/4 teaspoon of salt equals 1,500 milligrams of sodium.

1 teaspoon of salt equals 2000 milligrams of sodium.
